China launch statistics 2026
Charts and key figures for every launch record in the index. Filter by month, powertrain, segment or starting price; every chart and figure recalculates, and the link keeps your selection.
The index holds 414 source-backed launch records. It is a growing subset, not every launch in China, so shares describe the index rather than the whole market.

- Combustion / hybrid130
Label above each bar: battery-electric or plug-in share. n = records in that month.
The battery-electric or plug-in share was 59% in January and 65% in October (+6 pp); across the range it is 57%. Months with few records swing strongly, so read each bar with its n.

China vs Germany
Same models sold in both markets. This chart uses the checked price pairs and does not change with the filters above.
Germany list price above China list price, 15 model pairs, checked 31 Oct 2026
- Same entry spec
- Closest trims
For the 9 same-spec pairs, the German entry price is 78% to 186% above the China list price at the ECB rate (median +100%). Hollow dots compare the closest trims, not identical specs. The gap includes VAT differences, EU import duties, homologation, logistics and dealer margin; it is not a profit margin.

How these figures are built
- Starting price is the lowest listed China price of a launch record; the median is the middle value of those prices.
- Plug-in covers PHEV and EREV. “Several powertrains” marks a model launched with more than one type (for example BEV and EREV); it is not counted as battery-electric or plug-in.
- Months follow the launch date. Makers are counted as named in the launch source, so sub-brands count separately.
- Euro values convert China prices at the ECB reference rate; they are not European retail prices.
